Throughout the season swimmers can earn points towards certain awards acknowledging their efforts. Awards are earned through regular club nights, the distance champs, club championships and Swimming WA competitions (open to competitive members only). All award winners are announced at the club’s anuual awards ceremony in June (date TBA).
Swimmer of The Year: Awarded to the top swimmer (male or female) who accumulates the highest combined finals points achieved at any Swimming WA Championship event for the season.
Steele Bishop Perpetual Trophy: Excellence award for the most outstanding performance of the season by an individual or a relay team. Selected by the Head Coach.
100m Freestyle Perpetual Trophies: Awarded to each male and female swimmer who achieves the fastest 100m freestyle swim (recorded by electronic timing) at any Swimming WA meet of the season.
Club Person of The Year: Awarded to the committee member/club parent who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and done everything in their power to enhance the running of the Swan Hills Swimming Club.
Club Night Points Trophy: Awarded to overall winner and runner-up, based on aggregate points accumulated at club night events, excluding club championships. Rewards swimmers who show perseverance and commitment, achieve the greatest improvement in PBs during the season and consistent attendance at club nights.
Club Distance Trophies: Awarded to first place male and female swimmer in each age category with the fastest cumulative short course time for completing all three club distance events. Age as at day of 1st series. Distance championship trophies awarded subject to same guidelines as age championship trophies.
Club Age Championship Trophy: Awarded to winner and runner-up for both male and female in each age group. To be eligible for an age group trophy, ALL five events must be completed at the annual club championships.
Recognition Medals: Awarded to swimmers who’ve displayed good character in their commitment to complete all five events for their age group at the annual club age championships, held in May each year. Designed to recognize and reward developing swimmers at different skill levels who participate with the “attitude to achieve”.
